Deepsleep Solo Camping Mat System for Toyota 4Runner

Really a fan of this setup, particularly for the 4Runner. We’re able to sleep 2 adults and a 70lb dog cozily and comfortably, and comfort is far above a standard air mattress.

Finally a good nights sleep while car camping. Leveling mats were amazing as well. The bags that the mats came in were a bit cheap and the straps broke almost immediately, but the actual product was top notch.

The mattress itself is good, however for the price and the fact that it is "custom" built, it could be much better. If you only order the mattress, you'll still have a significant slant in the 5th Gen 4Runner. You have to buy an additional leveling mat in order to remove the slant. To fill the cargo area, you have to order 2 mattresses and 2 leveling mats, so you have a total of 4 bags you have to carry around. For being "custom" made and for the price, the mattresses could have been designed with a taper to account for the cargo slant. You are able to roll the leveling mat into the mattress, but it makes it very difficult to fit in the provided bag. The bag feels pretty cheap and when trying to fit both components, it ripped. Not the end of the world, I'll find a slightly bigger bag. However, for the price and being "custom" made, I am slightly disappointed. The mattress is very comfortable though, so I'll just roll with it.
Thanks for the feedback! We take a very customizable and 'al-la carte' approach to our design, so the set up can be fitted to each specific need. The reason it's not practical to design this with a built in 'taper' shape is because there are many 4Runner owners that run platform systems or goose-gear type build outs which would make it not work for them, as well as 3rd & 4th gens, which are completely flat and don't have the cargo drop at all. The leveling mat items are a specialized, optional 'quick fix' piece to negate the cargo hump problem only for 5th gens that don't have a platform or leveling solution in place. This design style also helps us keep down the price point, to be much more competitive than other brands who force the purchase of a full size mattress even if it's not needed. For my Toyota 4Runner I specifically ordered the 3rd row seating package, in all the images of on the website it shows a bottom section added to the regular mattresses to accommodate the lower section of the 4Runner and to level out the sleeping area. The bottom section did not come with the package that was ordered. Also the pricing was extremely expensive, as a Canadian with exchange, shipping charges from the US and extra duties the total cost for a couple of foam filled mattresses was close to $1,000. Would not recommend buying this as a Canadian and I'm contemplating a return if Deepsleep doesn't send the levelling cushions.
Hi Steve, thanks for choosing deepsleep! Did you happen to read the description and 'shopping guide' below it? It specifically states:
-'These correct an uneven surface, but do not correct an overall vehicle 'slant'. They are not needed for 3rd & 4th Gens, or 3rd row models.'(only the 5th gen 'standards' have a drop down to the cargo, which is why it is only recommended for that, and only named when clicking on those options).
-Also, in picture #4 of it in the 3rd row version it specifically shows it not with that leveling piece at all, since it is not needed and is only additional option recommended for the 'standard' 5th gen.
- In the purchase selection buttons, the leveling mat options are only mentioned for 'standard', and they are not mentioned in the buttons for 3rd row options, meaning it was not included.
Reminder, that we are also happy to answer questions via email, call, or text before making any purchase to be sure an order fits the needs of the vehicle if there is any confusion about how it is shown and described. Although we wish we could, we can't currently control the exchange rate, or the taxes and fees that each country decides to place on imports.
We probably would have sent out the levelers just to be cool about it, even though they aren't designed/needed for your vehicle model... if you had reached out to us about any of this - but not after a threatening 1 star without even trying to contact us first (thumbs down). If you happen to have a 6th gen somehow that you are refereing to, this is not advertized to fit those.

I’ve slept on this mattress every night (except one), since June 7, 2024. 8 months.
The one night I didn’t sleep on it was the night I got my rooftop tent. I wanted to try out the mattress it came with. Although it was comfortable, the tent mattress was a bit thin for me. I’m a side sleeper.
After that first night, I continued to use the Deepsleep mattress in my tent and when I stop by friends and family during my travels. I use it to this day. It is as comfortable as a residential mattress.
Next might be an upgrade to the 27” X 80” mattress for the tent.
Another item I got when I ordered my mattress was the window covers. A “must have” item. It allows great ventilation without bugs getting in. Wonderful.
